Note
The Painted Hills, and the lab behind the glass
July 25, 2021

We could have spent hours in the visitor center at John Day Fossil Beds.
It doubles as a working paleontology lab. You can watch through the glass as they work on fossils found in the local beds. The rest is murals, displays, and the story of a tropical Oregon with palm trees, crocodiles, three-toed horses, and bear dogs.
Three units: Sheep Rock, Clarno, and the Painted Hills. We’re pictured at the Painted Hills.
