Note
Into the Grand Canyon
February 26, 2021

A last-minute decision the day before.
We drove up after I got off work and car-camped in the park. Up early for coffee and sunrise.
Point to point: parked at the end, shuttle to South Kaibab, down into the canyon, across the Tonto Trail, up Bright Angel. Just under 15 miles, plus a little side exploring.
A mule train passed us. Otherwise almost no one. When it started to rain we hid under a shelter with a travel nurse from Tucson and an older local who hikes the canyon all the time. I promised myself I’ll still be doing this at his age.
One of my favorite hikes. The canyon looks like a different place from every angle.
